

Tina Maas studied Graphic Design at Camberwell College of Arts in London
from which she graduated with a BA in 2000. During her studies she took
part in a semester long exchange programme to Parsons School of Design
in New York City where she was first introduced to experimental photography.
As a result of her studies abroad she met and assisted fine art Photographer
Jill Enfield for 3 months.
After her graduation Tina travelled for one year throughout Eastern Europe and South East Asia, where most of her travel photography originates. She has been adding to her collection from subsequent trips ever since. Following her trip she lived in Israel for more than a year where she had 2 articles published in the travel magazine "Teva HaDvarim", exhibited at the "Suss Ets" Café and took part in the monthly alternative art evening at "The Balcony" performance space.








Tina has been writing book reviews and conducted interviews for the photography website takegreatpictures.com and also assisted on several mentor series photo treks which are run by American Photo Magazine and Popular Photography Magazine.
In 2003 she spent the summer working for the Santa Fe Photographic workshops in Santa Fe, New Mexico, assisting many well known photographers and expanding her experience of both B&W and color photography, in the studio and on location.
Having returned to live in England again, Tina had her first solo exhibition at the "Islington Arts Factory",
in March 2004, where she displayed her Prison tintype work.
She has since also taken part in the
“International Open Image Competition” at the Waterloo Gallery, which featured her unique polaroid-lifts work, of which you can see more of in her gallery here
the “Wintergarten” group exhibition in Hamburg,
Germany, exhibited twice at the “Center for Fine Art Photography” in Colorado, USA and her images were part of a touring group show by the “Texas Photographic Society” during the summer 2006.
Tina has been teaching digital photography in East London for the past 3 years and had her photographic work published in John Ingledew’s book “Photography” (Laurence King, 2005) and in the first edition of alternative photography’s “Art and Artists” which came out in 2006.


Graduating from her MA in Photography at Central Saint Martins College of Art in the summer of 2006 she exhibited her Ophelia Series at the Mall Gallery in London. Tina had a solo show at the Freud Café in Covent Garden during February 2007 and her work was selected by the “London Photographic Assosciation” for a group show at Calumet in March 2007 as well as being chosen as a nominee at the “International Colorawards”.





Tina received the first prize in the people category and second overall prize at the prestigious “PX3” competition, which exhibited her work at 13 Sévigné Gallery in Paris in June 2007. One of her Ophelia images was recently chosen for a CD cover of the Japanese musician “T. H. Kyoske”.

Tina has started teaching her own digital photography courses in London and exhibited with the photographic group “Eyelight” at the London College of Communication in March 2008. One of her Ophelia Series images was chosen as the cover for the first “Diffusion” magazine edition and the accompanying interview was also featured on alternativephotography.com .




In 2009 Tina was the UK winner of the “Flash Forward” photography competition held by Magenta, which resulted in a touring group show throughout Canada and the US. She was also part of a group show on alternative photography held at the “Tilt” Gallery in Arizona, USA and had her work featured in “Photo Pro Margazine”. Having been selected to be part of the PIN photographers network she exhibited at the Four Corners Gallery, London as part of the Photomonth event in November 2009.


In 2011 Tina exhibited with the “Eyelight” photography group as part of their “Elements” show in Battersea Park. In October she was selected for “The photographer’s Eye” show at the Gatehouse Art Gallery in Harlow.

Several of Tina’s works are featured in the new book by Jill Enfield called “Jill Enfield’s Guide to photographic alternative processes” (Focal press, 2013). During the first 3 months of 2014 a selection of her Ophelia Series will be exhibited and represented by Verve Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Tina still exhibits and sells her work every Sunday at Spitalfields Market in London as well as in selected shops and Galleries. She is always happy to welcome visitors so please come by for a chat.
